Ford Rug & RTS Manual Bearing Syncro KitDifferent overhaul kits are available depending on the extent of the overhaul that you plan, the contents of the kits are described as follows:

MRK Kit (RWD): Main case bearings, gaskets, seals, kits may also include nuts, dogs & wires, thrust bearings, extension housing bushing, small parts kit, shifter bushings however miscellaneous parts will vary by transmission. Syncro rings are sold separately in sets.

Information and parts are provided for the following Transmission: Tremec 4 Speed (RWD)

 

IDENTIFICATION - Top loaded, fully-synchronized unit with 36 tooth syncro rings. Main shaft reverse is located on the outside of the 1st / 2nd slider. Case casting is 260XXXX. There are many different case configurations:

T170F-RUG Side mounted Overdrive (SMOD) synchronized in all forward gears, with top loaded cast iron case.

 

T170FS-RUG Single Rail Overdrive (SROD), aluminum case with shifter turret mounted on extension housing.

 
 

T170FT-RTS Top loaded 4 speed with 4th being overdrive. Aluminum case and shift tower.
